Who Maintains an AI-Built Website After Launch?

Once an AI-built website is live, it's easy to assume it will keep running without anyone looking at it. It might, for a while. But hosting renews, forms stop delivering, and the hours on your homepage don't update themselves.

What maintenance covers

Maintenance is mostly the unglamorous part: renewing the hosting and the domain, keeping the SSL certificate current, having backups, checking that the contact form still delivers messages, and making edits when your hours or prices change. If the site runs on WordPress, there are also core and plugin updates and some security monitoring.

Why it gets missed

AI tools make creating a site easy and tend to leave the "after" up to you. If you moved the site to your own hosting, you might not be able to keep editing it in the tool you built it with, depending on how it was set up. That's worth finding out before you need a change made.

Your options

If you're comfortable with it, you can handle this yourself. Put the renewal dates in a calendar, and test the contact form once a month.

If you'd rather not, a monthly plan means someone watches the hosting, the backups, and the form, and handles small edits when you send them. You can also pay someone by the hour when something breaks, although problems have a way of showing up when you're busiest.

A monthly check

Whoever does it, a quick pass is worth making each month. Load the site on your phone and make sure the padlock icon shows in the browser's address bar. Submit the form. Confirm that the hours, prices, and phone number are still right. Seasonal changes like hours and service areas are the kind of edit that tends to get put off.

We offer monthly plans for AI-built sites, and we're happy to explain how they work. Send us a message below.

Questions people ask

Do AI-built websites need maintenance?

Yes. Even a simple site depends on hosting, domain renewals, a current SSL certificate, and a form that still delivers. The content also needs updating when your business changes.

How often should I update my website?

Whenever your hours, prices, services, or contact details change. A quick monthly check of the form and page loading is a reasonable habit.

What happens if my hosting or domain expires?

The site goes offline, and email tied to the domain might stop working. If a domain lapses for long enough, someone else might be able to register it, so it's worth keeping renewal reminders.
